Proposal Writing Workshop

Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 6:30-8:30 pm

Join us for a free workshop on preparing exhibition proposals with Geneviève Wallen, Programming Coordinator at Xpace Cultural Centre. Geneviève will go over what is needed to compose a strong application package. She will also address specific questions and provide tips on how a proposal should be written, highlighting things like composing a strong artist statement, a developed project description, and thorough support material. Whether you are an emerging artist looking for advice on getting started, or an established artist needing to refresh your skills, this workshop is for you.

The workshop will cover:

  • Understanding different types of galleries and what they're looking for
  • Understanding application guidelines and requirements
  • Creating your application and compiling support materials
  • Navigating online submissions (like submittable, dropbox, fillable forms)
  •

Following the workshop there will be an opportunity to get feedback on your in-progress applications from Geneviève and Abedar Kamgari, Hamilton Artist Inc.’s Programming Director. This is your chance to ask specific questions and receive advice to improve your proposal to the Inc. and other galleries.
