Placeholder probes the cultural, political and historical underpinnings of Hamilton’s artist community. adeola egbeyemi, Kyle Joedicke, and Steacy Easton’s artworks explore how ordinary moments shape a place. These artists utilize large-scale mural, site-specific installation, documentary filmmaking and a discrete intervention to raise questions of permanence and collective memory. Is Hamilton Home? How can we shape power and place together? Placeholder was curated by the Inc’s Programming Committee, in consideration of our 50th anniversary. While reflecting on the history of our programming, the committee invites viewers to consider who is left out of archival histories, and who is memorialized and celebrated.
