Buy up a copy of the book, listen to contributing readers (Kento Cady, Sharifa Patrick, Sebastian Morgyn James and ZOOT) and sip on a signature Bonk’d cocktail all in the courtyard at Hamilton Artists Inc. We’ve heard you might even have the opportunity to rub shoulders with the Bonk’d editorial team: Joe Ollmann, Raul Palacios, and Sunny Singh.
Bonk'd is a beautiful (100+ pages) comic book featuring a collection of short comics by 25 amazingly talented artists from and/or based in Hamilton (Ontario). The book is a tightly-packed, hard-punching piece of art that showcases Canadian talent. It balances a mix of well-established award winning-artists and highly promising emerging voices that will take over the comics world. This first volume of Bonk'd is a piece of history that you will love reading over and over!
Bonk'd was made possible thanks to the City of Hamilton's City Enrichment Fund.
Kento Cady is a hāfu illustrator and art educator vested in community perspectives and centres togetherness and undersung stories in his work. His mixed media artwork plays with energetic linework, found texture, and earnestly mundane narratives. Outside of his illustration practice, he’s passionate about scruffy dogs, virtual pet sites, and experimental storytelling.
Sharifa Patrick is an illustrator/ Background artist whose vibrant work has brought stories to life for clients like Reebok and the NBA. She’s passionate about capturing moments in time and celebrating the beauty of the BIPOC community through her art.
Sebastian Morgyn James is a self taught artist based in Toronto and Hamilton Ontario, working mostly digitally and in mixed media with themes of anxiety, theology and symbolism. This is his first published comic!
ZOOT is a comic artist and illustrator from Hamilton Ontario, who has been writing comics for as long as she can remember. While she primarily focuses on fictional comics depicting queer intimacy, she also dabbles in writing about her own life and experiences.
